7 Day Kilimanjaro Climb Lemosho Route

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our driver will pick you up and transfer to Moshi town to your designated hotel for overnight.

Elevation: 2,100m(6,889ft) to 2,650m(8,694ft) Distance: 7km, Hiking Time: 3-4 hours, Habitat: montane forest We will pick you up from your hotel and transport you to Lemosho gate for registration. After the parks formality and lunch you will start the trek across the undisturbed Montane forest decorated with Black and White Colobus Monkeys to the camp where dinner and overnight will take place.

Elevation: 2650m (8,694) to 3,850m (12,631ft) Distance: 12km, Hiking Time: 7-8 hours, Habitat: Moorland and heather land. Today’s long trek starts on a small trail which continues through the trees and gradually ascends to reach the Shira plateau. Enjoy the views of the mountain and plains below. The path continues to cross the Shira Ridge hence you will stop for lunch at the Shira Camp 1. after lunch you will climb another 250 meters in altitude and pass the surreal Senecio-plants growing to over 8m in height. Reaching the camp after the long day, you will relax with coffee and tea and be nourished withan early dinner and As the sun sets you might see the summit glowing later in the evening.

Elevation: 3,850m (12,628ft) to 4,600 (15,088) to 3,900 (12,795ft) Distance: 10km Hiking time: 5-6hrs Habitat: heather and moorland After breakfast you will leave Shira 2 Camp and start your way to the key point of the route, Lava Tower then all the way down to barranco. This part of the route has a lot of ups and downs that gets you to lava tower. Some parts of the trek are difficult and it is common to experience some discomfort and this is due to the body trying to adjust with the altitude but in order to successfully acclimate to the altitude you have to spend at least an hour, where you will also have hot lunch. After lunch you will descent down to barranco camp for dinner an overnight. Enjoy the network reception and the breathtaking views at barranco camp.

Elevation: 3,900m (12,795ft) to 3,990m (13,106ft) Distance: 6km, Hiking Time: 4-5 hours, Habitat: Moorland Today is short day of trekking. In the morning you will start climbing Barranco wall and reach 4200m for acclimatization and continue crossing ridges and valleys to Karanga campsite for hot lunch. After lunch you will have a bit of rest and get another acclimatization of trekking up the scree slopes toward the southern ice field. You will then return to the camp for dinner and overnight. NOTE: For 7 days itinerary from Barranco you hike directly to Barafu campsite.

Elevation: 3,960m(13,107ft) to 4,673m (14,009ft) Distance: 4km, Hiking Time: 3-4 hours, Habitat: Alpine Desert Today the trek up to the Barafu ridge campsite is difficult because of altitude. The walk takes few hours because of short distance but steep which require a slow pace to avoid fatigue. You will walk across an alpine desert with strong blowing winds down from Kibo peak and its glaciers. You will have an early dinner at 1700hours and rest until midnight when we will commence our push to the summit.

Elevation: 4,673m(14,009ft) to 5,895m(19,336ft) to 3100m(10,170ft) Distance: 15km, Hiking Time: 10-12 hours, Habitat: Desert and arctic Wake up at midnight to a light breakfast and then prepare for your summit ascent. The goal is to climb before dawn so that you can reach Uhuru Peak shortly before or after sunrise. Departure at 12:00midnight, switch back up steep scree or possibly snow and reach Stella point on the crater rim between 4 and 5 am. This is the point from where you can have the views of the fabled crater and its icecaps and after one hour of hiking along the crater rim you would find yourself on the true summit of Kilimanjaro. Your main activity here is to take the photographs to memorize the victory. After your summit activities, you will descend back to Barafu huts campsite for lunch and rest, then collect your gears and continue down through moorland and heath zone to Mweka hut campsite. Dinner and overnight at Mweka Campsite awaits.

Elevation: 3,100m(10,170ft) to 1,640m,(5,379ft) Distance: 10km, Descending time: 3 -4 hours, Habitat: Montana forest Today is your last day on the mountain. After breakfast you will descend down to Mweka park gate walking across Montana forest. This descent will take 3-4 hours. At the gate you will sign out and board a vehicle ready to transfer you back to your hotel for your certificates presentation celebration.

After a good night rest and breakfast at the lodge, our transfer vehicle will be ready to pick you up and take you to Kilimanjaro International Airport to connect with your flight back home.
